Monsters Vs. Aliens (2009)
This movie came out this weekend and did VERY good box! While it technically isn't horror, it is steeped in Sci-Fi/Horror movie history - of the giant bug variety. And since this week's theme appears to be about "FUN," let's lighten up a bit today and play some toonage... AND 3D to boot. Enjoy!

Lights Camera Dead (2009)
Lights Camera Dead (2009)
"Less Bore...More Gore"
One of my favorite horror sites (and podcasts) is Bloody Good Horror, found here: http://www.bloodygoodhorror.com/bgh/. Today (March 19, 2009), they reviewed a small low-budget flick called Lights Camera Dead from Aisthesis Productions. The boldly give it a 7 out of 10. Check out the review here, http://tinyurl.com/dk3f7w . In their review they praise it for having a 'solid plot', being 'funny' and containing 'decent gore' eventhough the acting may not be top par and the pacing may be off.
So, check out the trailer below and give the review a read.

The Orphan (2009)
The Orphan (2009)
"There's Something Wrong with Ester."
Can't tell if its the stare or the hair. Doh.
John and Kate adopt Ester and things go down hill from there. Ester seems sweet, but there is an evil side.
The Orphan is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra ( House of Wax 2005) and written by David Johnson and Alex Mace. The movie stars Isabelle Fuhrman, Jimmy Bennett and Lorry Ayers.

Drag Me To Hell (2009)
Drag Me To Hell (2009)
Sam Raimi returns to horror after years of Spider-man with Drag Me To Hell. Raimi's story pits a young loan officer against an old woman and a supernatural curse. The trailer promises plenty of scary fun, including an old fashioned seance. Oh this just feels like great fun!
Directed by Sam Raimi, Drag Me To Hell was written by Sam and Ivan Raimi and stars Alison Lohman, Justin Long, Adriana Barraza, Chelcie Ross and David Paymer.

Blood The Last Vampire (2009)
Blood: The Last Vampire (2009)
First it was a successful Manga, then a successful Anime feature. Now, "Blood: The Last Vampire" is a feature length live action motion picture. This movie looks promising. Wondering if this will change the direction of J-Horror - maybe more action oriented story telling.
B:LV is directed by Chris Nahon, director of "Empire of the Wolves" and Jet Li's "Kiss of the Dragon" and is written by Kenji Kamiyama and Katsuya Terada. The cast includes Gianna Jun (Jun Ji-Hyun), Masiela, Liam Cunningham, JJ Feild, Koyuki and Michael Byrne. At one time, Ronny "Freddy Vs Jason" Yu was set to direct but is now a credited as a producer.
